Black Vulcanite scoop Musica distribution deal

AFTER years of complaints from Namibian musicians who've failed to secure shelf space in South African music distributor Musica, three Namibian artists' names will soon be among those on sale in the music shop.

Hip-hop trio Black Vulcanite have made history by becoming part of a handful of Namibians able to sell their music in Musica.

“We are proud to announce that Duchess Distinctive has been working with a well-known South African distribution company to create an opportunity for the following artists to be able to feature their products in Musica stores in Namibia and Southern Africa in the near future,” said Ashante Manetti of Duchess Distinctive.

Securing the deals was not easy with negotiations spanning over four months, but persistence and perseverance helped. “It was back and forth for a long time but one thing I can tell artists is never to give up,” Manetti said.

“Make sure that the quality of the music is up to standard and have a strong social media presence and align yourself with the right team.” She emphasised that quality is one of the main things that is hampering music in Namibia.

With Musica having indicated their willingness to stock the latest releases from the Empire, these distribution deals will hopefully signal that the floor is open for more Namibians with good quality music to venture into the African market.
