Curriculum Development: Don't Laugh at Me South Africa
ABC Connects, based in New York and steered by a board headed by Dr. Carol Gorelick , identified a need to introduce the fundamentals and principles carried by the curricular /pedagogical structures of the DLAM project as it has been developed by Peter Yarrow/Operation Respect and out rolled in the United States of America (USA) and various relevant countries around the world that the USA has diplomatic links with. Having worked with community schools around the East London region, Eastern Cape Province of the RSA, coordinating schools and their communities around this endeavor and also engaging about basic anti-bullying awareness in schools in particular was a primary task that ABC Connects undertook while in the country linking with possible service providers to collaborate with in successfully out rolling this project in RSA.
We as Azanian Oasis Multimedia Productions PTY (LTD) based in East London/Cape Town, Sibusiso Mnyanda to be precise-academic, artist and curricular developer- have been commissioned by ABC Connects through its board to be the primary service provider for ABC Connects for the RSA roll out of this project. That is, contextually (in respect to the South African situation in as far as bullying is concerned, and also translation of the work from American English to isiXhosa and other South African languages over time) redevelop the curriculum/pedagogy of DLAM, re-record the music, identify and train facilitators to manage the roll out and also develop a Quality Assurance Management Strategy that will guarantee sound operation of the project.
